Power lifting is for Girls!
Regular exercise is just as important for a healthy heart as a well balanced diet. Following a regular exercise plan can strengthen your heart as well as your body.
What are known as power-lifting exercises (squats, clean and press..etc.) have gotten a bum rap. They are associated with abnormally large, muscle bound men - think offensive linemen for your favorite football team.
The truth is, full body exercises can be performed by any able body - yes that means ladies too! They require your full attention, use of multiple body parts (causing more controlled stress on your heart "a good thing"), burn more calories per minute and require little time. In plain English - You can shed those extra pounds & cellulite much faster with a little hard work.
A good interval training routine of combined power-lifting exercises can give you the ultimate workout in far less time then that 5 mile run never want to do. For maintenance and endurance start with 20 repetitions of a light to moderate amount of weight. Perform each exercise at a moderate to fast pace and see how fast that heart is beating when you are done.
Try these three exercises back to back
Full body squats
Bent over Rows
Push press.

Eat well and exercise regularly for the lifestyle you deserve.

Get that New Year's Resolutions Started on Both Feet!

Yes it is true, if you have not pegged down what health benefit you will target for next year you are already behind in the game. If you have not come up with a plan of action and taken real steps towards getting ready... you are a procrastinator and need to get off your butt and move.

A New Years Resolution is a life statement where we publicly admit one of our flaws and promise, however meaningfully, to do better this year.

A little note for those procrastinators, Don't Wait! If you want a better body, if you want to run that marathon, loose a dress size, be able to see your shoes without straining your neck (...you get the picture) then get up and move. It is just that easy.

Do a push up, jumping jacks, a sit up, 2 crunches, look in the mirror and suck your gut in for ten seconds, do something. One push up a day will equal 365 at the end of the year, probably 365 more then you did last year as well.

Start today! Make a goal! Tell everyone about it (Peer pressure can be a good thing). Devise a realistic plan and STICK TO IT! Build yourself an encouragement alliance by workingout with friends who have the same goals. Make it a positive experience! Keep your goal in front of you at all times and you will achieve it.

Now that I have you all pumped up, get going. Successful people do not wait to be told when to start, they get up and do it.

Scroll down and read my post on resistance training to give you a some ideas or shoot me an email with any questions you may have.

All the best!
